Sometimes you’ve just gotta give yourself what you wish you were getting from someone else.

You don’t need a rope to pinch a stranger’s butt.

Like an enemy I knew as intimately as any friend, I came to know the nagging, constant emptiness of the incongruent life. I ignored myself and lived for people, purposes, and goals that weren’t my own. I betrayed who I was and instead accepted a fictional substitute that was defined from the outside in.

You don’t have to love everything a person does to love that person.

You have the duty and gift of living. You don’t have the right to sit on the sidelines–use your life and get back into the game.

You cannot settle the problems of Europe by long-distance telephone calls and telegrams. Round the table we must get!

Most conversations are simply monologues delivered in the presence of witnesses.

In the meantime, let’s agree that what makes a problem big is simply that it’s yours.

When I’m feeling anxious or depressed, I do find it helps to reach for a pen and paper. There is something about writing things down, that hand-eye combination, that makes me feel calmer.

Now I’m a warrior.

A hunch is creativity trying to tell you something.

When you once get an idea in which you believe with all your heart, work it out.

To avoid criticism do nothing, say nothing, be nothing.
