Some people misconstrue our band just to be a commercial venture.

Well, once we finish something, I can’t really listen to it because all I hear are problems.

What makes us a bit nervous is, in this instant age, to release something that might take more than one listen. Where everything is instantly judged on YouTube or something! It’s a bit like releasing a horse and cart on a racetrack.

You can never say you’re big – I don’t think you can ever take anything like that for granted.

Even though the album is an endangered species, can we try and make a coherent and good one, even if it’s like making a horse and cart at a Nascar conference?

Music comes from a place we don’t know.

No matter who you are, no matter where you come from, you are beautiful.

I have insecurities, of course, but I don’t hang out with anyone who points them out to me.

At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter what anybody else thinks, as long as you’re happy.

Maybe if I don’t cry, I won’t feel anymore.

You are allowed to feel messed up and inside out. It doesn’t mean you’re defective – it just means you’re human.

Let’s love ourselves then we can’t fail to make a better situation tomorrow. Our seeds will grow, all we need is dedication.

You try to smile it away, some things you can’t disguise.

I always want to think of myself as an underdog.

I want to be proactive and focus on maintaining my health and happiness and have decide that the best way forward is to take some time off.

Never be ashamed of what you feel. You have the right to feel any emotion that you want, and to do what makes you happy.

I think I remind everyone of themselves. Not saying everyone is my size, but it’s relatable because I’m not perfect, and I think a lot of people are portrayed as perfect, unreachable and untouchable.

Age wrinkles the body; quitting wrinkles the soul.

I didn’t talk to anyone about [postpartum depression]. I was very reluctant.. Four of my friends felt the same way I did, and everyone was too embarrassed to talk about it.

Being able to take care of myself is something that my mom really instilled in me.

A black person can’t be imperfect in the public eye, that’s a form of control.
