They ask me how I love you and I say in pages, in novels, in volumes. I love you like my favorite story, the one that I wake up to every day and watch unfold. And I don’t know how it ends, but I know your name is already written in the chapters of my life that I have yet to live.

I thought about writing a poem explaining how when you are lost at sea, even if you are rescued and survive, you never really come back. Then I realized everyone that’s ever been in love would already understand.

And of all the things I look forward to in life, falling in love with you is at the top of the list.

She woke up every morning with the option of being anyone she wished. How beautiful it was that she always chose herself.

Come to me, wild and untamed. Bring the oceans on your lips, the mountains on your spine; I want to explore all the places you have ever called home. Let me pluck each petal from the gardens you’ve grown, overcrowded seedlings pushing up through your bones. Come to me dipped in the stars, come to me wearing all your scars. I want to show you just how beautiful you are.

Love is knowing every goodbye has a hello on the horizon.

What you’ve done becomes the judge of what you’re going to do especially in other people’s minds. When you’re traveling, you are what you are right there and then. People don’t have your past to hold against you. No yesterdays on the road.

Life is like improvised jazz. We cannot regulate all the variables. We must play it with panache and flair as best we can.

Times have not become more violent. They have just become more televised.

People don’t like when you point out to them and remind them that they’re not very smart.

Words are only painted fire; a look is the fire itself.

No matter what side of the argument you are on, you always find people on your side that you wish were on the other.

You have to be odd to be number one.
