I always thought that was so strange that people would try to corral you and pigeonhole you in one category and not play you anywhere else.

[when asked if she had ever been asked to “sex it up” a little] I’m more of the down-home – I guess, you know, the good-old girl. Being sexy is kind of funny to me. You know, I can get kind of spunky or I can get tough, you know, that kind of tough, sexy look. But sexy? No, I don’t think so. Just what you see is what you get on me. And it’s never been anything of a sexual nature.

So, we come out to Los Angeles. And we met with every network. We met with show runners, directors, writers, everything. And what we had an idea for, they didn’t like. And what they had an idea for, we didn’t like. So, we went home.

You know, I get a lot of people pitching songs to me.

But I like to listen to demos. I like to hear the finished product. It’s like listening to a song – I mean, a story. If you’re going to sit here and tell me a story, I just like to listen. I don’t want to make them up.

My family, you know, are all still, you know, very close. We’re all still very close. Mom and Daddy are still alive. So, what more can you ask for? Your kids are healthy.

But I have to be careful not to let the world dazzle me so much that I forget that I’m a husband and a father.

I’m a weirdo. I don’t leave the house unless I have to.

I’m not a musician, I’m an entertainer.

The idea of being in control for the sake of control is not really important to me. If everyone is sharp and doing what they’re doing well, you don’t really need to be in control all the time.

[on Frank Sinatra] He was a compassionate guy. He loved to have fun. He had a movie theatre in his house. We munched on popcorn and watched movies together.

The only thing that I’m scared of is not livin’ up to the expectations of Dr. Dre and Eminem.

[on his acting career] All the new people you meet, it’s pretty amazing. The vampire needs new blood. And there is still a lot to learn and there is always great stuff out there. Even mistakes can be wonderful.

I guess you have to be really open to your acting partners and believe in the story.

If guys don’t respect themselves, they don’t respect other people. That’s times and personalities. And all of them are not that way. But it don’t take but one or two to screw up the whole crowd.

I only mentioned people in Barbie Dreams that I f**k wit. This isn’t a diss. Yikes. This is culture, this is BIGGIE!!!!! New York!!!! This is FUN. Light hearted fun.

I don’t like a tremendous amount of conflict. I don’t think that fighting and passion are the same thing.

You do not send me to Brooklyn to get a cheesecake and then I come back and you’re gone.

I hope im not that close to my character, I hate him, I used to hate everbody like Cedric in my school.

There is nothing wrong with a woman welcoming all men’s advances as long as they are in cash.
