If someone thinks that peace and love are just a cliche that must have been left behind in the 60s, that’s a problem. Peace and love are eternal.

Part of me suspects that I’m a loser, and the other part of me thinks I’m God Almighty.

Reality leaves a lot to the imagination.

When you’re drowning, you don’t say ‘I would be incredibly pleased if someone would have the foresight to notice me drowning and come and help me,’ you just scream.

It has been my observation that most people get ahead during the time that others waste.

I had learned one of the bitter lessons of life: never try to regain the past, the fire will have become ashes.

I don’t think I’ve made mistakes. Every time somebody said I made a mistake, they do the polls and my numbers go up, so I guess I haven’t made any mistakes.

Certain flaws are necessary for the whole. It would seem strange if old friends lacked certain quirks.

I realize that advice is worth what it costs – that is, nothing.

It takes an enemy and a friend, working together, to hurt you to the heart. The one to slander you, and the other to get the news to you.

The only true test of values, either of men or of things, is that of their ability to make the world a better place in which to live.

Being home alone at night makes me a bit nervous. If I’m at home alone, I have to sleep on the sofa – I can’t face going to bed. I’m there with the TV on and all the lights on. I’m not very brave about anything in life. In tennis, yes. In everything else, not very.

A fanatic is one who can’t change his mind and won’t change the subject.

Man is what he believes.

In the end, you’re just a renter anyway. You only own these things for as long as you live. After that, who knows? If I live until I’m 80, I’ll have 30 more years of collecting. If the collection is big enough, I’ll build a museum. And if not, I’ll leave it to a museum.
