Fear came in so much in my life that it did everything but completely stop me.

When I’m feeling anxious or depressed, I do find it helps to reach for a pen and paper. There is something about writing things down, that hand-eye combination, that makes me feel calmer.

I think when you get married, it’s not a totally free ride – it’s not without its unglamorous periods and its fights and its angry noons and silent dawns or vice-versa.

The other day I came across a recording I made of a night at my apartment when I was living with Kris Kristofferson. Bob Dylan had been around earlier and we were all passing around the guitar. Whenever it came to my turn I would run into the kitchen and say I’d left the coffee on the stove or something. Shyness. Scared to perform.

Music gave me the energy to revise, revive myself; renew, rebirth myself. It was a palliative, a relief.

I have simply found a way of loving through whatever absences or dejections have fallen like tree branches in my path.

I’ve been a loner all the time throughout my life… I haven’t been the best father… Many times… my children have accused me of not giving them enough attention. And, frankly, I never have been good at handling that.

You leave home to seek your fortune and when you get it, you go home and share it with your family.

I’ve learned that regardless of your relationship with your parents, you’ll miss them when they’re gone from your life.

Be nice to your siblings, they’re your best link to your past and the most likely to stay with you in the future.

The family is very important. They make me feel good always because if I won, when I started to be famous, the relationship never changed with my friends and family.

I know what it’s like to be married and to live in a house with a garden, but it’s not something I’m striving for at the moment.

Those who have never had a father can at any rate never know the sweets of losing one. To most men the death of his father is a new lease of life.

I have not been a good father, but no father has loved his children more. Like my father, I decided the best thing I could do for my kids was work and provide. Fortunately, I’ve been able to do that. Unfortunately, my work was on the road, and that’s meant a life of one-nighters.

You have to love your children unselfishly. That is hard. But it is the only way.

I’ve always wanted to be a mom at 23, 24ish, ever since I was a little girl. I’m right on schedule.

I was bribing North to wear her butter 350’s by saying they glow in the dark. However, she made me turn off the lights to test it. She caught me lying but Kanye was on speaker phone and said don’t worry I will make them.
