To be honest, part of me doesn’t want to talk about being sick because I want it to all be behind me, but I know I have to.

I don’t regret opening up about what I went through [with depression]. Because, it sounds really cliche, but I have had women come up to me and say, ‘It meat so much to me.’

If you are chronically down, it is a lifelong fight to keep from sinking.

It’s not about eating healthy to lose weight. It’s about eating healthy to feel good.

My advice would be to talk to people about [your anxiety]. Don’t feel alone in it. Treat your body as if you are another person that you need to take care of and heal.

As a teen, I was both anorexic and bulimic.

I use the world as my therapy – as my therapist.

It was against my principles and all, but I was feeling so depressed I didn’t even think. That’s the whole trouble. When you’re feeling very depressed, you can’t even think.

You have good days and bad days, and depression’s something that, y’know, is always with you.

Depression is melancholy minus its charms.

Exercise is labor without weariness.

And every person can benefit from talking to somebody. I’m the most anti-medication person, but some people need medicine, and there was a time where I needed some too.

After the accident, I had to reconstruct myself completely. I was taught to see again and to hear with hearing aids. My body had to be completely reprogrammed. And music therapy was at the core of the healing process.

You may feel depressed, but it can’t be so depressing that you can’t move. No, I would say that people create in moments when they are elated about expressing their depression!

The worst drugs are as bad as anybody’s told you. It’s just a dumb trip, which I can’t condemn people if they get into it, because one gets into it for one’s own personal, social, emotional reasons. It’s something to be avoided if one can help it.
