No one looks stupid when they’re having fun!

The streets and woods around my house were a perfect setting for fake mischief. I would spend all afternoon pretending I had run away and had to live on my own. I would bring Toll House cookies and a sweatshirt and try to make a fire. I would sneak out side my house at dusk with a pair binoculars and search the streets for murderers. I created scenarios in my head that I always managed to escape from kidnap fantasies where I would wriggle free from the ropes.

It takes years to find your voice and seize your real estate.

I like the person who commits and goes all in and takes big swings and then maybe fails; who jumps and falls down, rather than the person who points at the person who fell and laughs. But I do sometimes laugh when people fall down.

I did not breeze in there thinking: ‘I’m going to nail this.’ My heart rate was not low when I was doing the Golden Globes. I wanted to do well. It’s very bizarre to be in a room where everybody in your audience is famous. But also: it’s an awards show!

We walked to meet each other up at the time of our love and then we have been irresistibly drifting in different directions, and there’s no altering that.

A lot of people believe what other people say.

It’s like in golf… A lot of people – I don’t want this to sound trivial – but a lot of people are switching to these really long putters, very unattractive… it’s weird. You see these great players with these really long putters, because they can’t sink three-footers anymore. And, I hate it. I am a traditionalist. I have so many fabulous friends who happen to be gay, but I am a traditionalist.

If I go into a club now, all the blonde girls leave my corner and all the black girls come into my corner. It’s as if I’m racist towards white girls!

I have a rule, and that is to never look at somebody’s face while we’re having sex; because, number one, what if I know the guy?

I don’t understand how in my parents’ age, it was ’til death do us part, and in mine it’s ’til cheating do us part, ’til lying do us part, ’til chemistry do us part, ’til disagreements do us part, ’til boredom do us part, ’til cowardice do us part. I just want what my parents have, that part.

Do not just look at your boyfriend as just a boyfriend. Look at him as a friend, too.

Women prefer men who have something tender about them – especially the legal kind.

My friends tell me I have an intimacy problem. But they don’t really know me.

I think men are afraid to be with a successful woman, because we are terribly strong, we know what we want and we are not fragile enough.

Partnerships must have loyalty and integrity at their core.

I love my husband, but my girlfriends are my sanity.

It is because I think so much of warm and sensitive hearts, that I would spare them from being wounded.

When we think of friends, and call their faces out of the shadows, and their voices out of the echoes that faint along the corridors of memory, and do it without knowing why save that we love to do it, we content ourselves that that friendship is a Reality, and not a Fancy-that it is builded upon a rock, and not upon the sands that dissolve away with the ebbing tides and carry their monuments with them.
