If there is something to gain and nothing to lose by asking, by all means ask!

When you discover your mission, you will feel its demand. It will fill you with enthusiasm and a burning desire to get to work on it.

No matter how carefully you plan your goals they will never be more than pipe dreams unless you pursue them with gusto.
