Maybe I shouldn’t have these dreams and aspirations. Maybe I should have given up on life ten years ago and stopped fighting for my truth.

Our schools don’t teach that anymore, instead we’re more concerned about kids having self-esteem and feeling good about themselves than we are about preparing them for real life. The politically correct crowd has taken over our schools, and as a result we are failing our children.

One of the things that make community colleges so special is they do not pick and choose their students – they work with all students.

Community colleges are certainly one of America’s best-kept secrets.

I never let schooling interfere with my education.

I don’t care what their [Guns N’ Roses] record is. If you need a blood donor and the only person who can give you a transfusion is Hitler, you take the blood.

In terms of doing work and in terms of learning and evolving as a person, you just grow more when you get more people’s perspectives… I really try and live the mission of the company and… keep everything else in my life extremely simple.

I mean, look, teachers don’t do their job for the money, obviously, because we pay them ridiculously little amounts for what they put in. Most of them come out of their own pocket for materials and things to help the children and all that.

I was a great student. I was good at everything.

To learn, you have to listen. To improve, you have to try.

By making college unaffordable and student loans unbearable, we risk deterring our best and brightest from pursuing higher education and securing a good paying job.

[On his donation of $100 million to UCLA in 2012 adding to the $200 million he donated in 2002] The cost of a world-class medical education should not deter our future innovators, doctors and scientists from the path they hope to pursue. We need the students at this world-class institution to be driven by determination and the desire to do their best work and not by the fear of crushing debt. I hope in doing this that others will be inspired to do the same.

No one will ever get anywhere in this world unless he becomes a teacher, one who can show others how to do things.

If my future were determined just by my performance on a standardized test, I wouldn’t be here. I guarantee you that.

Education is our passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to the people who prepare for it today.

Education consists mainly of what we have unlearned.
